Conference Polish Migration Policy: Historical Outline and the Challenges for Today Monday, 23 November 2009 The final conference of the project "Polish Migration Policy: Its Principles and Legal Aspects" was held in the Łazienkowski Hotel, Warsaw on 23 November 2009. The conference titled "Polish Migration Policy: Historical Outline and the Challenges for Today" gathered policy-makers and representatives of the academic society. The conference was co-organised by the International Organization for Migration (Warsaw Office), the Ministry of Interior and Administration and the Central European Forum for Migration and Population Research.
On the left: First session: Prof. Dariusz Stola (Institute of Political Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences), During the first panel of the conference, the results of the research project on the development of Polish migration policy since 1918 were presented by Anna Kicinger (CEFMR). The commentary to the presentation was made by dr hab. Dariusz Stola (Institute of Political Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences). The results of the project fuelled a vivid discussion on the role of the history in the contemporary migration policy and politics in Poland.
On the left: Dr hab. Marek Kupiszewski (CEFMR), Prof. Marek Okólski (CMR) and Anna Kicinger (CEFMR) The second panel of the conference was devoted to the contemporary challenges for Polish migration policy. The progress of the work on the migration strategy for Poland was presented by Krzysztof Lewandowski (Ministry of Interior and Administration). The presentation evoked questions and comments from the audience.
